What's in a Name?
Our Spring Valley Tract has so much going for it - savanna, prairie, forest, wetlands, farm fields, and more! But one thing it's missing is a permanent name. "Spring Valley" was always meant to be a placeholder, a temporary title while we got to know the land better. Now, we're searching for a permanent name for the property, and we'd love your help! Dive into DALC! Why is the Driftless Area so special? What are DALC's current priorities and projects? The Uplands Garden Club is hosting our very own Executive Director, Jen Filipiak, for a program that's all about DALC, and will answer these questions and more! The program is free and in-person this Wednesday, March 1st, 7pm at the Dodgeville Law Enforcement Center Conference Room, 109 E. Leffler Street.
Don't Miss the Iowa County Area Home Energy Audit Blitz DALC's Clean, Local Energy Alliance–Now! (CLEA-N) project is collaborating with Green Homeowners United (GHU) to offer home energy audits for a limited time at a discounted cost for Iowa County area homeowners. Home energy audits, also called energy assessments, are thorough evaluations of a home’s energy landscape, followed by suggested improvements and how much each is expected to save in energy costs. A host of special rebates and tax credits are available through the Inflation Reduction Act but are only available to homeowners who have completed an energy audit. Learn more and sign up today!

Sundays at Sardeson: 1st and 3rd Sundays of most months. Upcoming dates: 3/5, 3/19
Wednesdays at the Wetland: 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of most months. Upcoming dates: 3/1, 3/15

Notes From the Field Like this short, sweet month, my notes here will have to be short and sweet too! You might have noticed that this e-news is going out on the very last day of February. That's because this month has been jam-packed with preparation for the rest of the year! We've got a newsletter coming out, a spring social in the works, tons of events lined up. Now I know how the earth feels during the slow buildup to spring - impatiently waiting to explode to life. I can't wait to see you all out in the Driftless soon!
